Spectacle Blinds / Figure 8's

Spectacle Blinds (Figure-8 Blind/Blank, Eye Glass Blind/Blank, Blind & Ring Spacer Sets) in Any Size, Rating or Alloy

USA Industries' Figure 8 or Spectacle Blinds are a single piece of machined metal and therefore eliminates the hassle of having seperate paddle blind and ring spacer sets. When a section of your pipe needs to be isolated from the rest for maintenance, a spectacle blind will make the process much easier!

A Figure 8 blind is most often mounted in the open position with the pipe flow unubstructed so it will operate normally. An industrial paddle blind is mounted onto one of the bolts making it easy to isolate a section of pipe. Firstly, just loosen the other bolts and rotate the blind around. Secondly and subsequently, this simple manuever will close the pipe and prevent flow, while simultaneously visually identifying that the pipe is closed.

Since we manufacture our blinds in-house, we can make them from 0.5" to 96", and from 150# to 2500# ASME rating. Likewise, each is stamped with the line size and flange rating, and ground with smooth edges. Moreover, we offer serrated (125 / 250 RMS typical) or mill finishes by default, as well as the option between flat face, raised face, octagonal, or RTJ flanges, and material options include carbon steel, 304 and 316 stainless steels and more. All in-stock orders ship within 24 hours.

Need something custom? USA Industries will customize our all of our spectacle blinds to your exact specifications and adhere to our ISO 9001:2015 quality-assurance program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, this is referred to as a blind/spacer set and we typically manufacture this configuration on larger sizes.

Yes, we will make these in stainless steel or any other alloy you require. Tell us the grade of stainless steel or alloy you need and we will start production!

Just let us know what you'd like it to be, and we will make them to any size requirements you need.

Of course. Just let us know what thickness you need and we will manufacutre it to that thickness.

Yes. On small spec blinds the tie-bar, or web, typically fits between the bolt holes. On larger spec blinds it is common to drill a hole in the center of the tie-bar for a bolt to fit through which holds the blind in place. If you want the tie-bar to be made differently, let us know and we manufacture it just how you need it.

Mill finishes or machined 125-250 RMS finishes are the most common finishes we produce, but we can finish them however you like. Additionally, RTJ (RJ) gasket surfaces can be provided in oval or octagonal form.

Of course. Let us know how you want the additional thickness machined down from the outside diameter to the raised face gasket area. This is not common and it will add some cost.

Yes. We need to know if want an RTJ (RJ) male or RTJ (RJ) female spectacle blind. For a male RTJ blind, the gasket profile is machined onto the blind. This is not typically preferred because any damage to the gasket profile will make it unusable. For a female RTJ blind, the area for the gasket seating profile is machined into the blind. This is the preferred method as commonly available gaskets are used between the blind and flange.

We also need to know what profile you would like on your gasket surface. For male RTJ blinds, the options are oval or octagonal. Female RTJ blinds are typically requested as octagonal, which has 3 sides on each mating area (like a flat bottom V). What ever combination you require, we will make your blinds to!

Of course, we can manufacture your blinds with any additional feature you require. This is one of the perks of dealing directly with the manufacturer!

Yes, carbon or carbon alloy steel spectacle blinds will be color coded in the webbing of the blind.
